Did you ever try any of the awkward, and somewhat creepy suggestions in the KM for Informal Witnessing?
by miseryloveselders inthe august km, has an article entitled, "you can witness informally!
" this week's service meeting will cover half of the 13 questions.
next week, congregations will finish the article along with a box full of several experiences with successful results from informal witnessing.

I wonder just how many of these "suggestions" the members of the GB -- or any Bethelites for that matter, personally apply... if they engage in public preaching at all....

Find refreshment in spiritual things - this weeks tower.
by Cook My Socks UK ini just thought that i would share an observation regarding par 3 of this weeks wt study.
the paragraph says in part " jehovah's witnesses find genuine refreshment through up building christian fellowship".. .
i am wondering if any readers / posters on this forum that still do or used to attend meetings have any thoughts on this.

Room 215
After a meeting, I was left with a vague sense of having been let down, that the anticipation far exceeded the reality: ("what's the point? I didn't learn anything new"). Almost nil spiritual enlightenment. And after the closing "amen," most of the post-meeting chatter among the friends focused on the mundane to the exclusion of the material on the meeting, ie. women talking gossip, families, and exchanging recipes, etc. with the men talking about work and/or sports.

Do the GB really BELIEVE??
by Slidin Fast ini believe that most dubs remain because of the investment they have made to the "truth".
as soon as men become a ms or an elder they have bought in and can no longer express any doubts felt.
then promotion through full time "service" means an increase in authority over those below and control by those above.

Most of these guys spent a large proportion of their lives in an insular, hot house, self-reinforcing environment with limited to nil first-hand interaction with people on the outside, including regular JWs, and much less with non JWs. All this inhibits, if not totally blocks out, a realistic view of the world.

Two Questions—Plasma and Serum
by Marvin Shilmer intwo questionsplasma and serum.
1. does watchtower doctrine prohibit transfusion of plasma as it does transfusion of platelets?[1].
2. does watchtower doctrine prohibit transfusion of serum as it does transfusion of platelets?[1-2].

Debator, the type of submission/cooperation, respect etc. the Bible urges the flock to demonstrate to the older men of the congregation is of the type one is urged to show to his/her father, or wife-to-husband, and worlds apart from the ham-fisted, Hitlerian authoritarianism of the GB and its stooges. If you doubt this, why not tell your local Circuit Overseer, or better yet, write the boys in Patterson, of your efforts to "straighten out" all of us here? On that note, weren't you, as a loyal JW, cautioned to eschew debating? Just wondering

The GB's view of "Family Night Study" is limited to poring over WT Society literature and preparing for the upcoming week's meetings, not of any independent research.

Hi Debator,
If you mean basic foundation WT doctrine, i.e. soul sleep, no hellfire, earth's destiny, no trinity, etc. you may well have a point. However, the GB's insistence on total uncritical submission, surrender of one's individual conscience to a group of reclusive, arrogant old men, reliance on chronology, and ruthless intolerance and severe punishment of even the most respectfully worded dissent, are the real problems with the organization, and the real divergence from primitive Christianity.

WHO ARE THE FALSE PROPHETS TODAY?
by Dogpatch inwho are the false prophets today.
by barbara anderson.
in 1991, one of the watch tower societys senior writers, colin quackenbush, told me in the privacy of his office about letters which the society had received from prominent and credible elders, not apostates (thats exactly what he said), who were concerned about the increase in accusations saying that jehovahs witnesses were false prophets.

so, debator, it's of no consequence to you that the high school class of '69 was told in God's name that "you won't grow old, much less die, in this old system?" (May 22 1969 Awake!) There's no accountability by anyone for those words or their effect of impressionable naive adolescents, eh? Look if you and your ilk enjoy life wrapped cozily in your blanket of delusion, I won't try to dissuade you. Oh, and given the new elastic "this generation" nonsense, I suggest you might want to consider pre-paid funeral arrangements....

Does the divinely stated principle of accountability for what one says and the effect it has, especially when uttered by one sought out as an authority, on its listeners (Matt12:36, 37; Matt: 23:15) have any currecny at all among JWs, much less the GB?
